The Disappearence Path
This ending is triggered by accessing the deep forum a third time within two weeks of the second surveillance warning, without anonymization software enabled.
The player ignored both network warnings and kept digging regardless. Unlike the Fired Path which is witnessed, narrated and concluded, this ending refuses to give the player a known fate.
Ending cinematic
An elevator interior. A stranger, a technician in a blue-collar work outfit, someone with no physical resemblance to the player’s character whatsoever. The witness is established clearly before the doors open: this is not the protagonist’s perspective anymore. The player is outside, watching from eyes they never used before.
The elevator opens onto the player’s floor. The stranger steps out. The character’s flat door is blasted open. Not broken, not forced, blasted, the frame splintered inward. The stranger approaches, looks inside.
The apartment is in disarray. No blood. No bullet impacts. No signs of struggle in any conventional sense. Just the particular chaos of a space that was searched very thoroughly, very quickly, by people who were not worried about leaving it tidy.
Somewhere in the wreckage, visible but not highlighted: the diploma. Framed, now face-down on the floor, or propped against an overturned chair: present, specific, recognizable to any player who has lived in this apartment for thirty hours of gameplay. The thing that qualified the character for the job that brought them here, in the wreckage of where that job eventually led.
The stranger doesn’t touch it. Doesn’t linger. He simply continues on its way toward the end of the hallway. The less questions asked, the less problems.
Cut. The same hallway. The flat door is now brand new, freshly painted, a small potted plant already placed beside it by the new tenants. Sounds of movement from inside. Someone laughing at something, and some music can be heard. The building didn’t mourn. The city didn’t notice. The door is just a door again.
