The Dove

Note

This living thread is automatically started when starting the 2nd third of the game.

Steps

1. The Arrival

Since the players triggers the end of the 1st third of the game by getting a promotion, Suree Namuang‘s arrival is basically happening because they need to fill the position character’s old position.

Suree will come the 1st morning, and as described in her character’s profile, people will be curious about her presence in the office at all, until Jameson will answer to the question and announce that our character is in charge of the newcomer.

After ending The Predecessor living thread, the character will add a new note on their phone, containing the following:

They’re throwing a kid in there and I am the one in charge? I gotta get this girl far away from here as soon as possible.

Before ending the previously mentioned living thread, the character will have little to no real way to know what’s currently going, so having this knowledge will make the character rethink about lots of things.

2. First tasks

Each morning from then on, the player will need to pick a task that was assigned to him, to give to Suree. Each of the given task will slowly increase a “curiosity” state. No matter the file nor the related tasks (Those won’t be hardcoded), she will grow more and more curious about what’s actually going on.

3. Uncomfortable questions

When the curiosity will reach 100%, she will ask a series of questions related to all the missions given to her, talking about specific tasks. Again, only what she will say will be scripted, it doesn’t matter if the tasks she mention were never listed in all the file she was given.

She will ask why those tasks look like Pythia is building weapons, handling mercenaries and wiretap customers, while Pythia is supposed to be an engineering company.

Following the Empty Path

The character’s face will essentially tell Suree to stop those questions at once, and she will do so. It will also be the start of her colors slowly fading away and her slowly stopping talk about pop culture.

The living thread stops at this point, since she will simply be integrated as the rest of the group.

Following the Empathic Path

The character’s face will tell Suree that they’re as worried of the implication as she is, but also that they’re stuck with the current situation. This will give Suree the will to keep asking questions and get answers from our character based on his face.

4. The “camp”

A couple days after Suree’s curiosity bar being filled, one hardcoded file will be given to us, and Jameson will say that Suree needs to handle this in priority. It will take 2 days for Suree to complete the file.

Note that since the discussion post curiosity fulfilling, Suree will know that the player is an “ally” who accepts any of her conversation topics, work related or not.

So the next day evening, she will come to the character before leaving, saying that they’d better strap in for the next day’s morning meeting, because it was about to be ugly. She leaves right after this.

The next morning, she will present her work to Jameson and the rest of the colleagues as usual, only this time, this work is about the logistic relative to a prisoner camp: workers on the project, budget, area, location, required gears, budget, etc. It will soon enough be clear that this prisoner camp is intended for prisoners made during The Village living thread.

The clinical tone Suree will use to present everything will make everyone even more comfortable, excepted for Emil Felder who will be giddy about the subject. Once Suree is done talking, Jameson will take a few seconds before thanking her and resuming the meeting, acting as if nothing just happened.

5. PTSD

Note

At this point, Tobias should openly be an ally if the player followed the Empathic Path.

The same evening, the character and Tobias will meet at the bar and talk about the morning’s presentation. Tobias will essentially say that it was messed up. He still has difficulties wrapping his head around the fact that Pythia does other things than simply providing engineering services.

He will end the conversation saying that Pythia’s past was messy anyway, so this was some sort of the logic follow up from there.

This will create a note on the character’s phone, saying that they need to investigate on Pythia’s past. This will require the player to dive into the deep forums.

6. The other Pierce

Just like in The Hostage, the player will need to find several documents in the deep forums, each of them being found will no longer show up, and only one document will show per evening.

The required documents will be the following:

  • “Theories behind Pythia Solutions and the Government’s partnership”
  • “Dozen of corpses found in Pythia Solutions’ HQ”
  • “Who is the renegade entrepreneur, Victor Pierce?”
  • “Pythia Solutions vs P&S Technologies: a paradoxal competition fight”

Those documents will present in detail basically everything there is to know about Pythia, the context in which it was founded, and most importantly, the Blood bath that drove the journalist crazy with conspiracy theories at that time.

Once those documents found, a new NPC will hang at the bar after each day.

7. The competitor

The NPC (Let’s call him Mark, we don’t get his last name) is working for P&S Technologies, and is also here to wind down after his day. From his own admission, his job is not exactly near, but he keeps meeting with colleagues in bars near his job, so he decided to add some (geographic) distances to be sure he won’t find anyone from his office and end up talking about work while he is supposed to be relaxing. He’ll guess soon after that the character works for Pythia Solutions, which he will find extremely funny.

8. I know a girl

For about a week, the character will meet with Mark , who will talk about life in general, and more infos about how Pythia Solutions is perceived from inside P&S. After 3 meetings, the character will send a message to Suree, asking her to meet up at the bar the next evening (”At your service, your Lordship”).

The next evening, the character will make Suree and Mark meet, and both of them will start talking, comparing experiences, while avoiding talking about what exactly Suree is working on.

The character will leave soon after.

9. Brain drain

The next morning, Suree will come to the character’s desk and quickly say “I have a job interview with P&S!”, then will leave right after this. From then on, Mark will stop showing up at the bar, and the barman will say he is sad, since he was a good customer with a decent knowledge in beer.

At the end of the active week, Suree will send a message saying she got a job as a project manager at P&S Technologies, and was personally greeted by Victor Pierce himself. She will start there next Monday, so it was the last day they got to work together.

The character will congratulate her and will ask her to avoid using the kind of titles and salutations she was using here (”Of course, your eminence”)

Next Monday (After a cutscene), Jameson will tell the rest of the colleagues that Suree found an opportunity that she couldn’t pass on. The rest of the colleagues will be sad and will say they’ll miss her. Tobias will have a smile. The rest of the day will happen normally (We will no longer be able to assign a mission to Suree for obvious reasons), and once the character is back home from after the bar, he will receive a last message from Suree saying “Thank you for everything, my lord”.

Reward

Following the Empty Path

Suree fully integrated, she is now a valuable asset. Pythia Solution’s health will get some extra points over this.

Following the Empathic Path

Suree Namuang gets to leave Pythia Solutions and join P&S Technologies. With her gone, Pythia’s work force is a bit weaker, which will impact Pythia’s health. The player also got to know more about the world’s lore.
